Chris Longcroft appointed EVP, Publisher, The Times and The Sunday Times
Chris Longcroft has been appointed to the role of EVP, Publisher, The Times and The Sunday Times at News UK. He has been covering the role on an interim basis since March, alongside his role as CFO which he will now step down from.
News UK reorganised its structure earlier this year, running each business as a standalone unit. Dominic Carter was appointed EVP, Publisher, The Sun and Scott Taunton was appointed EVP, President of Broadcasting. David Dinsmore is EVP, COO, with overarching responsibility for the print supply chain, relationship with the platforms and strategic partnerships.
Chris will be overseeing all aspects of the Times business unit, working with editors John Witherow, Emma Tucker and his senior leadership team to grow our digital subscriptions business to its full potential, ensuring that our products are the best in the market and delivering solutions for our advertisers and commercial partners.
Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News UK, said:
“The Times and The Sunday Times are in a strong position, with growing profitability, but we believe there is greater growth to be achieved. Chris has a deep understanding of each of the broad range of disciplines in the business which contribute to its success to drive growth and profitability, further securing the future of our exceptional journalism.”
Chris Longcroft said:
“The Times and The Sunday Times are iconic brands and we have ambitious plans to grow their revenue and profitability. It’s an honour to take on this new challenge as we reframe the future of our newsbrands for the digital age.”
Chris Longcroft became News UK’s Chief Financial Officer in October 2012, having previously been Managing Director of Operations from December 2010. He joined the business in 2009.
Emma Humphreys has been appointed interim CFO. Emma is currently Finance Director, News UK Broadcasting and has been with News Corp since 2003. A recruitment process will now begin to appoint a new CFO.
