Can you describe the company’s vision and mission?
Max: Storm5’s mission is to be the go-to agency for all RetailTech recruitment and to be the most specialised agency in the space. We want to be able to connect the best talent to growing businesses and do this by being able to service our clients at a faster pace than any other recruitment businesses out there. Furthermore, we have aims to grow to 3000 people in 5 years, be globally present through international expansion and create opportunities for our leadership to grow from within.
How does the company approach innovation and risk management?
Max: We approach innovation by constantly looking for new business development avenues and making sure the quality of what we do is at the highest level. Through the process of trial and error we are always open to implementing new strategies into our business model. Keeping an open mind is the key to approaching innovation as new ideas come to light all of the time. Not all strategies are successful however, because we are prepared, we are able to fall back on the quality and high standard of work we produce. Essentially, a melting pot for innovation is created in our business.
Can you discuss the company’s strategy for growth and expansion?
Max: The four key areas that we focus our energy on are Supply Chain and Logistics, MarTech, Instore RetailTech, E-commerce platforms and marketplaces. We hope to build and develop these key areas to grow this sector and provide an opportunity to our clients so that they have a wide range of choices when looking for the best quality talent. We individually have teams specialising in these areas and there is a breakdown of core verticals in the business such as DevOps and engineering, allowing each team to have their area of concentration and expertise.
How does the company ensure that its culture and values align with those of its employees and stakeholders?
Max: By constantly having a feedback loop we make sure that communication exists from the start; this enables us to have a strong culture as everyone can understand each other’s roles and how all our missions align together. This means that we can work together and hit everyone’s goals while doing so.
What do you see as the biggest opportunities for the company in the coming year?
Max: The market is coming back a lot stronger than people first thought after the market downturn in 2022. Storm5 were able to adapt to this and set up well to succeed and now partner with new businesses and new clients. On top of this there is an influx of funding and talent that we can work with giving us great opportunities to connect talent with the businesses.
What are the biggest challenges facing the company today and how are you addressing them?
Max: A few of the new challenges are future market downturns, new companies working with us and being able to focus solely on specialisation within our sectors. We want to work with the highest quality of what we do and don’t want to cut any corners in order to achieve results.
What are your thoughts on the recent changes in the industry landscape?
Max: Again, the market downturn has really left some businesses in a bad place however, the recovery of the market is doing better than a lot of people thought it was going to. There is ample opportunity for businesses to grow and for them to be connected with skilful talent.
What excites you the most about working in the RetailTech industry?
Max: I love how big this sector is! There are so many layers, areas of potential growth and so much opportunity to work with. There are so many unique companies in this space and its great to see them grow and have chances to work with them and aid them on their journey.
Tell us a bit about your culture. What makes your companies culture unique?
Max: Our culture is fun, vibrant, and young which makes it relatable. Everyone has the same mission which is ideal. Being someone who’s moved up from the start, there is more opportunity for progression than most companies. Being part of the leadership team has presented me with many opportunities to grow and learn so early which is very unique.
