A New Director at the Helm
First Sentier Investors recently announced the appointment of Sudip Hazra as the Director of the First Sentier MUFG Sustainable Investment Institute. Established in 2021, the Institute provides independent research on sustainable investment trends and impacts, supported jointly by FSI and its shareholder, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).
Kate Turner, FSI’s Global Head of Responsible Investment, affirmed Hazra’s significance in the role, saying, “Sudip will be instrumental in delivering a research program designed to enhance awareness and understanding among the investment community on a wide range of investment-oriented sustainability topics.”
Elevating Sustainable Research
Hazra, based in London, brings extensive sustainable research experience to his new role. Previously, he was the Director of ESG Research for Invesco, where he led the implementation of a global net zero investment research framework and developed compliance processes for Articles 8 and 9 of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.
At Invesco, his team won ‘Best ESG Research’ at the ESG Investing Awards 2023. Hazra also served as Head of ESG Research and Responsible Investment at Kepler Cheuvreux, where he received the Farsight Award for best ESG oriented research.
