Storm4, ClimateTech leaders, launched their eBook discussing how to recruit inclusively for your 2023 hires and provide an enabling work environment to help employees thrive.

In their latest episode of the Green Room Series, Storm4 spoke with experts from the ClimateTech industry and took a deep dive into the initiatives and strategies organization leaders can take to ensure ED&I is a foundational component of scaling their business. Their host Ryan Jones was joined by two speakers:  Hilliary Turnipseed, Senior Director of Talent at Kapor Capital and Kayalin Akens-Irby, Head of Growth at Planet FWD and facilitated by Padmaja Ayyagari, Director of Talent at NextPhase.ai.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives are reshaping the traditional approach that the industry has towards hiring, onboarding and retention. Leaders today are aware that diversity is more than checking boxes. However, many of them don’t know how to implement these strategies and changes effectively in the workplace. Gender gaps still exist, discrimination occurs frequently and a lack of representation in leadership is very much still apparent.

Kayalin Akens-Irby said “If everyone came from the same background, same school system, same investment banking background, you would end up with people who have the same thought patterns. And that’s not achieving value from diversity.”

With more and more leaders making pledges to do better at building more inclusive organizations, the challenge for many is knowing where to start.

Hilliary Turnipseed comments on this saying “A lot of companies are finding themselves in the next phase of the ED&I process. They have the information, but companies are asking themselves ‘What do we do with it and what does it mean for our business?’”

Through this ED&I-focused webinar and eBook Storm4 wants to contribute to creating working environments and cultures where every individual can feel safe, have a sense of belonging and be empowered to achieve their full potential. This is monumental in cultivating a successful business internally to execute its missions and goals. Storm4 understand that a business needs the right tools and resources to ensure that ED&I is at the core of business operations.

This report includes a myriad of tips and recommendations such as tips for aspiring and current business owners, successfully implementing these initiatives and becoming a champion of radical inclusion.

Hilliary Turnipseed advises business leaders that “regardless of the stage or size of your company, it’s never too early or late to start this work. Even when growth is slow or in times of uncertainty, this is everyone’s responsibility.”
